Frequently Asked Questions

How often do you update the site?

There is currently no set update schedule for Auction@TFTCO, but when you click the Browse button the newest listings automatically show up at the top.  We typically end groups auctions once every few months.

How do I bid on an item?

First, set up an account. The account information is used only to identify you as a bidder should you win an item.

Once you have registered with Auction@TFTCO, you will be able to place bids or buy any item on the site.

What is a Reserve?

Unless noted otherwise, every item we list has a Reserve, or minimum amount we can sell the item for. This amount is not disclosed. It covers the cost of reimbursement to the club for the group we are hosting and ensures that the charity will receive additional funds for our foundation (The First Tee of Central Ohio, which is a 501c non-profit organization).

How do I know when the reserve is met and the auction is live?

Look below the current bid for one of two messages:

Reserve Price Not Met - The item will not sell to the winning bidder unless more bidding occurs before it ends.

Reserve Price Met - The item will sell to the highest bidder.

How does Maximum (Proxy) Bidding work?

A Maximum Proxy Bid is the absolute maximum amount you’re willing to pay for a listing.  Think of it as automatic bidding.

Consider the following example: An auction with a starting price of $1000 has no bidders yet and the reserve price (which is not disclosed, so you would not know this amount) has been set at $1500. If you were to submit a bid of $2000, Auction@TFTCO will automatically place a bid of $1500 for you, meeting the reserve price at that time. The competing bidders will not know that you actually placed a bid for $2000.

If anyone bids an amount lower than above $1500 but lower than $2000, Auction@TFTCO will automatically bid above them for you. For instance, if a competitor bid $1550, Auction@TFTCO will automatically bid $1600 for you and you would still be the top bidder. If the auction were to then end with no additional bidding, you would win and pay $1600 rather than the $2000 you set the maximum proxy bid for.

Keep in mind that you can bid again as many times as you want if you'd like. Be sure to use Proxy Bidding to your advantage!

What is Buy Now?

Don't want to bid? Just want to ensure you win it? With Buy Now, you can pay a set price and immediately purchase the item.  The auction will end early with you as the winner.

Auction@TFTCO is a great idea!  I want to host a group at my course to help raise money for The First Tee of Central Ohio.  How can I do this?

Thank you.  We would be very greatful!  Here is how it the program works. Upon learning of your interest, we would contact you to get the specifics.  We would need to know what type of package can be offered (3 guest to play with you, perhaps your course will allow 7 guests or they may even allow unaccompanied 4-somes). We would also need to know the window that this round could be played in.  This is usually determined by two factors  When will the club allow this play AND what is a comfortable window for you as the host to be available to fulfill the commitment. And finally, what will the cost of reimbursement be for the guests.  All of our packages include lunch, golf, cart or caddy, and a round of drinks after play.  PLEASE NOTE, while some hosts are very gracious and do not send us a bill for the event, that is not a requirement!  We price every item to cover the cost of reimbursement and make money for the charity.  If a host does cover the cost, we do send out a tax receipt for your records.

If you are interested in joining us as a host, please feel free to email Rick Towle at, or call us at 614-861-3193.
